Blessed Protection did not reduce damage from Voice of Winter after Majiya's ability

Today while playing a game against the computer (Majiya) she used her ability to reduce my Deepwood Bobcat from 5 to 2 health. Then on my turn I added Blessed Protection to the Deepwood Bobcat and attacked Majiya while she had a Voice of Winter in play. The Voice of Winter was able to do 1 damage to my Deepwood Bobcat when it should have done 0 damage (due to Blessed Protection).

I'm not sure what combination of events caused this (Majiya's ability?). I'm playing Victor Heartstriker and this was on turn 5 or 6.

Majiya's Graveyard: Lightning Strike, Fireball
Victor's Graveyard: Champion of Irum, Aldon the Brave

My hand: Hunter's Gambit, Deepwood Bobcat
In play (my side): Deepwood Bobcat, Snare Trap
In play (Majiya's side): Voice of Winter

Victor had 5 SE while Majiya had 1.

Blessed Protection only reduces ability damage, not combat damage.

So, Majiya's ability, Fireball or DMT would be affected by BP, but weapons and attacking allies are not.
