    DARKCROSSBOWs ally suggestions

    why no defenders are being given attention?
    here are my ideas on defenders.

    Arcane Blazer. priest ally.
    5 cc. 3 atk. 5hp. defender.
    when arcane blazer is dealt damge. opposing hero or ally takes 2 arcane damage.


    Jouster of Ellos. human ally.
    6cc. 6 atk. 2 hp. jouster of ellos is immunity to ability damage.


    and attachments like
    Fast Reflexes 4cc. human attachment.
    target ally gets defender and +1 heatlh.

    Foresight of the Crystals
    shadow attachment.
    5 cc.
    targete friendly ally gets defender and +2 attack but loses all type if immunity to ability damages.

    What's the point of Defender if the ally can't even threaten to kill the attacker?

    then there should be attachments who will give permanent defenders. not like warrior specific alert and able and battle hardened who last only for a turn.

    I'm extremely biased towards higher attack values because I don't like grindy pillowfights most games tend to become. So take it however you want.

    Which is fine, but for defender to be relevant the ally needs to be kinda sorta extremely good. Defenders not being Protectors and Defenders being able to attack are also a bit weird.

    Something I would get behind fairly easily:

    4 cc 5/5

    Can't attack
    Defender
    Protector
    Your hero can't be attacked

    Something that's not a threat by itself but something you need to get through and something that's extremely hard to get through. 4cc because it would get in the way of 5s but if it was cheaper it would be too cheap for an actually decent Protector. It costs quite a bit and can't attack on it's own so I think the high stats are justifiable.

    Like the idea, but drop that attack down to 2. Shouldn't be more than 3 at most.

    Then why have Defender in the first place? That's the point I'm trying to make.

    An ally with Defender has to be relevant enough for the opponent to not attack into it. Reducing the attack of that card to 3 makes the card completely irrelevant because it cannot attack and even if it could, I probably wouldn't touch it.

    I'll agree with air here.
    Look at the dark flayer, the only reason this card is even close to usable is that it is an early 2/1. Your not willing to run your fire snake into it because the flayer will win.

    For defender to be desirable at all to me then the ally it is attatched too needs to be a glass cannon. 3/5 defender is not scary at all and given 5 health can actually stand firm against attacks without needing defender at all.

    This doesn't apply to all scenarios, I'd be willing to pack that 3/5 if he enrages on damages like the marauder does so that best case he is a 7/1 defender.

    You see higher health on allies because they need to soak the attack before hitting back. A defender in theory doesn't soak any of the attack and should kill before being touched. This given the intense advantage these cards will gain from attacking first means to balance them they will need low health which also opens the door for ambush to be a desired card effect as well.

    The hard truth is this, you want a big stompy creature with ridiculous sustainability and the ability to strike first no matter what. in your example of a 3/5, that means at best this ally costs 5cc. Now you add defender 6cc. Keep in mind that 5 health dodges most abilities and can soak most allies and you'll need to bump cost again. For this card to be viable it needs to be a 7cc card. and quite frankly 3/5 for 6 or 7 is not worth the cost, even if it does attack first. On the other hand, a 5/2 5cc would be far more useful, it can kill un buffed mid range cards and still isn't overpowered in that a 2/2 ambush would still kill it.

    As for blanket effects your treading on even more unstable ground.

    Imagine Shard of Power adding defender to all cards.

    Permanent blankets are far too overpowered and would need to cost insane rss. Temp would be the only option but then you have cost vs effect issues and you would probably have a card too expensive to ever be worth playing.
