Last Chance for Thoughtripper's Cutlass

I was thinking about this for a while, and I think we should give Hunters another chance with Cutlass. Hear me out

Firstly, lets look at the noteworthy toys Hunters got in SF.

- Hunter's Gambit
- Deepwood Bobcat
- Emore Crossbow
- Ricochet Trap
- Decoy Trap

Everything else is pretty trash imo.

- Hunter's Gambit is very good for Victor and Banebow, but average for other heroes.
- Deepwood Bobcat is only good for Victor, and maybe Ythan.
- Emore Crossbow is a good weapon that can basically only be used by Baduruu.
- Ricochet Trap for all hunters.
- Decoy Trap for all hunters

As we can see, there is NOTHING that helps Gwen specifically. Yes, some of you may deny this by saying that Gwen got Snowland Spotter and Weevil-Tipped Crossbow. Neither of these are particularly good imo.

MY SUGGESTION is to give Thoughtripper's Cutlass back to hunters, with a small balance change. Considering the issue raised by Preybird that Gwen would be able to keep Cutlass in play indefinitely, the finished weapon should look something like this.

Thoughtripper's Cutlass
5cc. Hunter + Rogue Weapon.
2 Attack, 3 Durability.
The durability of Thoughtripper's Cutlass can not be increased. When your hero kills an opposing ally in combat, that ally's controller discards a card from their hand at random.

This would mean that Gwen could buff Cutlass to 4 attack, but its durability would remain the same.

Now, how would this affect the game?
- Victor would become stronger, although some people may choose not to run Cutlass.
- Gwen might actually see play with a decent secondary weapon.
- Probably no change for Ythan.
- Banebow would become stronger, but not as strong as Zaladar was.
- Baduruu would see more play.
- Probably no change for Skervox.

Does this change risk making Victor and Banebow OP? Maybe. I'm not really concerned about Banebow because aside from Gambit and Krygon, he's almost exactly the same as he was in DP. Even with Cutlass he would still lose to Amber. Also he's a counter to Zaladar, and I'm all for buffs to heroes who counter Zal. At the end of the day, Cutlass only has 3 durability. You can just beat through it with your own weapon, or just pack item destruction. If you're not running decent item d in SF you're going to have a bad time, especially once everyone starts playing Amber.

TL;DR: Cutlass should be made a Rogue + Hunter weapon again, except it's durability cannot be increased (to stop abuse by Gwen).

I dont agree. BB made pretty good use of Cutlass as well as Baduruu. Let it go man! Rogue hand hate is enough!

That was actually my main deck on the TS (I like to think mine was one of the better ones out there) and it actually wasn't as horrendously OP as people claim.

Hunters with Cutlass may well be overpowered, I don't actually remember the TS being dominated by hunters but obviously some of us had bad experiences. I'm just suggesting it as something to look into before SF is finished. From the time when the early beta opened until now, I've played against only one Gwen. And it was DP Gwen with Snowland Spotter.

I had some decent tournament results with mine.

I don't think it was insane but not having the weapon did kill the deck pretty well.

I remember Azazel being one if not THE highest rated player on the TS and he ran a str8 up Baduruu using Cutlass and GD and thats ALL he ever used. In fact I was shocked in QM when I faced him and he was...cant remember...Zhanna maybe...I dunno, but...

I used an allied Gwen that was actually decent for awhile...and I ran Weevil Xbow and she kicks ass with that weapon.

But to give Cutlass back to hunters after its already been removed is kind of silly. Not to mention it will add another 3 months for us to take it away from them AGAIN, cuz you know a major bitchfest will occur.

I can assure you that Banebow with Cutlass is quite devastating. It has stole games for me.

If it's got a picture of Serena on it it's a rouges weapon. Nuff said. ( GD hunters always looking for another advantage! )
