a homunculus is traditionally a human being somewhat spontaneously generated via magic (witchcraft, alchemy, divine intervention, etc.). the human can be any size and often times it doesn't necessarily have to be 100% human.

altogether, i'd say they are taking a much more liberal approach to what homunculus means, but nothing too out of the ordinary. the most out-in-left field artwork, at the moment, is growing bog-dweller; but as long as that...thing was magically generated, it's technically a homunculus.

i think you may be mixing up homunculus and chimera, which are two different things.

polar opposite here. Curse of the Aldmor is the best art by far, the rest are becoming far too packed with information. not only is the detail of curse far superior to any of the other arts revealed, but it is full of colour saturation and focus.

my least favorite art is by and far Crown of Ages; a huge view-port with a dizzying depth of field, backgrounds populated with landscapes and monsters and dragons and people and holy hell a lot of de-saturated, greyed out shit that has little relevance to the card. meanwhile the foreground is a king and his subjects, some more fantastical beasts, and 4 streaks of colour.

yet the card itself is all about the crown. why do we need all that extra stuff? so we understand that the crown buffs ravager allies? no, we understand that by reading the damn text. the card focuses on the crown as an artifact. i want to see the crown. all the picture does is show me a blurry streak of dull orange. by maximizing the scope of the image, they minimize the amount of detail that actually matters.

sad part is, a number of arts do the same thing. Rapacious Vermin, dull, monotone, and who the hell is the guy controlling them? Ellos' Resolve. Wait, there's a monster in that picture? i thought it was a dude staring peacefully at a ton of urine-yellow ruins. Desperate Tactics, 50 shades of grey and a dude posing for a picture, no desperation to be seen. Stoneskin, too much dark grey to the point where the "stone" part is obscure and what stands out are the vein-y lines of orange and a very proficient masturbator in the background. Evolving Abomination; i don't even know what's going on there. who's the person in the loop? if so big, why so little health? where is this thing? how is this thing? thing 1 in thing 2's hand? too much things to process. Ricochet Trap; so much grey it actually starts to diffuse what actually killed the crocodile thing. i just see a spike coming out of its head. Hunter's Gambit ... wat? how does that convey what the card does? and again; so grey.

all that being said; i'm ecstatic the art came out and the art itself isn't bad. it's just that there needs to be tighter focus and deeper detail on the little things, in addition to a heaping helping of some colour. otherwise they are just too dull, confusing, and don't convey the spirit of the card.

EDIT: nevermind, looks like you guys just announced an update that isn't released yet I got massively confused and thought my updater didn't work (again)... Please don't play with my emotions like that, my heart can't handle it.

Great work on the new art though! Absolutely stunning.

Most of it is very cool, but Vess and Praxix art are just awful for heroes. That mummy looks like brainless zombie running around and more like Falseblood Cultist than a warrior. Someone mentioned in thread already that Confluence of Faith would be better choice for it and I agree. Praxix feels off because we are used to ELemental heroes being thing made of energy and lighting not water and tentacles.

Bloodfang I am not particarlly happy about. At least put him more in focus by zooming in. I can help by think that some art of useless DP wulven ability cards would be better fit like Thick Hide. Wulven on that pick literally has bloody fangs and not red nail polish like on current Bloodfang art!

Also I've seen Skervox full art and maybe it would be better with different zooming so you can see his enttire head and not the human hand at the bottom.

All in all, please at least change Vess art!
