Hey there and welcome to the forums. If you're looking to get help and mentored by someone, the best place to do that is in a guild. Most all guilds have something that's useful to help new players along. As for you deck, the question I would have for you is do you want a control or portal majiya? One thing you will have to do to play in the QMs is to bump your total cards up to forty cards. In the AI games and meltdown games you can get away with playing 30 card decks, but not in the QMs.

To build a more old school (pre shattered fates) portal majiya.....
3/4 portals
Usually 4 fireballs and lightning strikes
3/4 tome of knowledge (main draw)
2/3 secondary draw (sac lamb)
2 shriek of vengenge and/or acid jet

4 Ironhide karash
3 gargoyles or death collector
3 morbid acolytes
3 death mage thaddues
4 shadow knights
2 brutal minataurs or scourge colossus

If you can ever get your hand on some scourges you could probably get away with dropping the item destruction cards.
