Sold my first Lego set!

I finally decided to stick a set on eBay two days ago, and it sold last night. Today, I am posting the set to the buyer.

Let's look at the profit margin:

Sold on eBay for £46.99 (Buy It Now with Free Shipping)
Bought for £25.00
eBay listing fee £0.40
eBay final fee £4.70
PayPal fee £2.35
Postage cost £3.90

Ignoring cost to go to the post office, packing materials and my own time, it's a profit of: £10.64 If we value all that hard-to-calculate stuff at £2.31, that's a £8.33 profit, which is 33% ROI on the £25 I paid. Not bad.

Only 800 sets to go!

You forgot to calculate the value of the tears shed for the parting set :-P

Ha, no! I bought 4 of this set on the cheap from Amazon.fr a month ago. It's not even tracked in my collection database. I've just listed another for a bit less, but charging for postage this time. Once I've shifted these 4, I'll start selling the other sets.

Maybe! But I was at Legoland yesterday and came back with no Lego sets at all! Admittedly, I bought some Pick-A-Brick parts but that was because I was waiting an hour with sleeping baby, while my wife and kids went on a ride, and I had bad phone signal in there so couldn't waste time on this forum.

(Be carefully not to *accidently* sell one of your kids though. You'd probably get in trouble for that.)

You know, once he offloads this stuff he probably will have enough money to put all his kids through college.

Or pay off his mortgage.

Or go on a year long round the world trip.

Or buy more Lego.
