    Lightbulb CHANGE the COMBAT MECHANICS

    Hi ladies and gents,

I've been playing SE for a long time now. Most of you probably already know the SE combat mechanics. And in essence, if your allies survive after attacking/killing an opposing ally, then you can use them next turn again with a full health. Then you can cast more allies the next turn plus your previous ally. I also noticed that once a player has a good size of the board sometimes maybe 2 allies only, its a slippery slope for the opposing player. They waste each turn just to regain the board in order to win. So most of the times, when a person has FTA they win because all they have to do summon an ally early, kill the opposing board efficiently and maintain the board.

Recently, i started playing Hearthstone and their combat mechanics is different from SE. The attacker and defender receives damage simultaneously. So both players, in my opinion, have an equal chance of regaining the board because the allies eventually die instead of the attacker surviving in SE.

SE combat mechanic: attacker damage first, if survive then defends.
Ally X 4/4 attacks Ally Y 6/4, Ally Y dies because it needs to survive in order to defend

    HS combat mechanic: Simultaneous
Ally X 4/4 attacks Ally Y 6/4, Both allies die because damage is done simultaneously

I'm not much for arguments but i think changing the combat mechanics in SE to deal damage simultaneously will result to a more balanced board and game and it can actually decrease the advantage of FTA.

Let me know what you guys think =)

    Sincerely,
    Jo3yb0i

Gotta go maybe on this Jo3y, I've been playing HS for about a week now and it's pretty frustrating to have a 6/6 minion get killed because he was down to 2 health, and had to take out a low cost 2/2 minion with taunt,.
But it does keep the game moving along and keeps you thinking about what you should take out of play vs the cost to your health. Another thing with wepons and your hero is they don't defend? I find that a little strange, if I've got an ax you can be dam sure I'm going to swing it at the guy who's attacking me. But in HS , I just sit there and take the hit.

Hence my maybe vote. I've never had a problem with SE combat mechanics, but I see your point, ATM I'm of the mind that if it's not broke, don't fix it.

Naa. One of the reasons I'm stuck with Shadow Era is its mechanics. I like how it happens and it makes sense because it is easy to interpret what's going on.
You first attack, if the opposing ally survives, it'll defend. If it's killed it's killed. No BS.

The effort to change SE combat mechanic is to tremendous.

Changing combat mechanic is not plug and play. All card, including DP and CotC need to undergo playtest again. And because the no-errata policy for DP, most likely that this idea is impossible.

Disregarding that this won't happen, I've never been a fan of the whole simultaneous damage thing so I would say no regardless.

To implement this will obviously be a huge change.

Each card game has their own combat mechanics and SE is good. My suggestion is to simply minimize the gap between FTA and second player. And to Hopefully prevent the strength of swarm allies. Or even big fatties

Doing this will really unbalance the game I feel. Think about it.

    Just some examples:

Blake will become the go to 2 drop. Blake + Aldon will be insane (again).
Cards like Raven will lose almost all their power (as opponent's ally will still swing in before passive takes hold).
Belladonna will become OP (draw + guaranteed 4 attack!).
Weapons will lose almost all their benefit. Solo playstyles will be destroyed.
Haste will be largely ineffective, as will Retreat mechanics.

    The list goes on.

The first three sets have been designed with these mechanics in mind. Changing mechanics will destroy the game.
