Hello everyone,

welcome to the Shadow Era player auction!

Every participant starts with 100 Gondorian Credits (from now on reffered to as credits). You can spend these credits by bidding on this thead.

How to bid:
If you are the first person to bid on a player, say "My opening bid for player "XXXXXX" is # of credits".
XXXXX has to be the exact ign to make things easier on the administration side, look it up in case of doubt and # is the number of credits you bid. Opening bids can range from 1 to a 100 credits provided you have the spare credits to make that bid.

If you are not the first person to bid on that player, quote the previous bid and state: "I will go higher, I shall bid # for player XXXXXX"

I will try to keep the second post updated with the recents bids regularly, but it falls up to the player to check the last posts if no higher bid is delivered.

If you made a bid those credits are reserved for this bid and can't be used in other bids, if someone outbids you, you can use them again for other bids. This is to ensure nobody ends up spending more than 100 credits. Keep track of how many credits you have left yourself. I will check credits spend at the end of the bidding period.

Never edit your posts in this thread. If you make a mistake, quote that message and make a new post stating what you wanted to edit. If people are editing their bids it can mess up the amount of reserve credits from other players due to being outbid or not, so don't do it!
Please include the amount of credits you have left at the bottom of your post.

Bidding will close at May 7th 21.00 (9 PM) GMT+0, I am aware that this is not exactly 7 days from season start, but I will not get up at 5 am to declare bidding closed.

Once bidding is closed the highest bid for that player gains that person for this team. The second highest bid gets a small reward for being outbid.

Any spare credits are now also calculated, those go into a small sponshorship towards yourself!

Scoring
Once the season is done, there are 3 ways to gain score. You get the full score for all players you bought, added to this is 20% of the players you were the second highest bid, and added to this is any spare credits/200 times your own score.

This total will then be divided by 1+number of players you have in team+0.2 times the second highest bid you have. Two examples are shown below.

Participants are ranked by team score. The exact rewards for each rank to be announced by Gondorian.

Two examples to show the system, I am aware the numbers for score are low, but it's just to illustrate the point.

Participant 1 has player A with score 100 and player B with score 80 and was second highest bidder on player c with score 90, he had 5 spare credits and a score of 60 himself.

His team score will be (100+80+0.2*90+60*5/200)/(1+2+0.2)=62,3 (0,46 point from his own contribution)


Participant 2 has player D with score 99, player E with score 79, player F with score 75 and had no second highest bids, he had 10 spare credits and a score of 40 himself.

His team score will be (99+79+75+40*10/200)/(1+3)=63,8 (0,5 point from his own contribution with the points)

I have added the points from the spare credits to indicate that they aren't greatly decisive for the final score, but in a close race it might just help you a bit!
You can see that having three almost just as good players is better then two slightly better players, but there is the budget to manage.

Further rules questions can be asked to Mip (I won't be competing), if you feel my ruling is blatantly unfair, you can try to appeal to GDC. I reserve the right to edit these rules if necessary.
Supplying me with scores to calculate team scores and prizes is GDC's department, so wait for an update on that.
