I play only digital, where having extra choices is not necessarily beneficial - it slows the game down for both players.
Sorry, i do not support the change.

its a 7cc card and the choice of playing the ally or not should rest with the player. Also, should wording to clarify the playability of unique allies be on the card or does the game rules cover that sufficiently?

You can't summon a unique ally if you already have one in play, so I'm pretty sure the rules cover that scenario. However I don't see the issue with adding the words "if able."

If you suspect cheating, just shout "Judge! Judge!" Also, you can watch their hand as they draw the card.

Or they can change the effect to:

Reveal the top card of your Deck. Then if it was an ally, it is Summoned at no cost. Otherwise, add it to your hand.

Still do not think it is necessary.

implied trust and all that. besides, the bit of the gamble makes it all the more interesting as a high cost card. using him just requires a bit of foresight. nothing wrong with a few Random Events in a game so long as they aren't negative experiences most of the time.

i will admit though that from an inherent flavour perspective, though, your suggestion makes much more sense. a "people's champion" would never FORCE his people to fight for him. though, he probably would REQUEST their aid.

The card should be revealed as it happens for similar abilities in MTG

Most WoW cards had the same thing. Reveal when drawn by effects.

Just state that the card should be revealed, that way there can be no cheating. It's the most common solution.
