I found out infernal gargoyle would lose 1 health when I activated the ability of Gromm's Whip on it. According to the context of the effect, "target ally takes 1 damage", it does not say that the damage cannot be prevented from ally's ability. Therefore, I wonder if I misunderstand the effect or it's just a bug.

Hmmmm, sounds like a bug. Garg should reduce it if it does damage, health reduction would be a different matter, but damage should be prevented by Garg.
