    Poker stories

The moment when I have KQo and the flop goes KQJ and my mother decides to call me on something not even that relevant in the middle of that hand. I overlooked the fact that somebody could call a preflop raise with A10o.

I'm usually not mad while playing games but fuck that shit. I should learn to ignore phonecalls when I'm in the middle of a hand.

Not that bad, I just have to play for an hour or so more to catch up.

If anybody has any cool Poker stories (or rants or whatever), feel free to post them out.

    One hand flopped AAA once.

My bluff quad rep got called T_T

I've lost quite a bit today but playing against better players usually does that. I'll gladly pay some money to learn how to play better Poker tho.

    A question if I may.

    Folds to me.
I raise with KJo from the button (4x the big blind as I've been told is correct with no ante).
    Big Blind calls.
Flop goes 46J with 4 and 6 being suited (neither of my suits).
    He checks
I bet ~75% of the pot
    He min raises
    I fold

Is this a correct fold? I kinda read a set from him. Pocket pairs can call a single raise (or at least I would assume so) and try to hit a set on the flop so I thought he hit a set and raised based on that.

The suspicious thing here is that it was a min raise. Should I have taken that into account (and read a bluff from it) or was it an actually reasonable bet? As far as I know you don't really min raise anything.

He seemed a fairly tight player but mostly unknown.

I tried poker online some time ago, but I found it way too boring to wait for the right hand in the right position to play it correctly.

I moved to SE instead and spend much more time and money on it than on poker. SE is just much more entertaining with much more action than poker. On top of that, it reminds me the old times when I used to play M:TG an a teenager in the times of Revised and 4th edition.

I would have called him. Odds are he had QQ or was chasing the flush. I prefer live for many reasons.

So people generally like to raise with weaker hands and lead/call with stronger ones? I also don't really know why people would raise with a flush draw. I've heard of small to medium sized bets with a flush draw but a raise?

The odds are I couldn't beat a QQ either (I had 3 outs vs QQ).

I dunno, most of my problems are post flop play and bet sizing so I very well might be wrong here. Like, I have a hunch on what I should be playing pre-flop but then I don't know how to play said hands post-flop.

Playing Pocket Jacks must be the most frustrating thing ever.

He also might have thought you had nothing (like A10 or smth) and just wanted to steal the pot from him by bluffing, so he reraised you. Suits are tricky. If you hit triples on flop you really wouldnt raise until the turn. Because if you raised and turn showed 3 suits you re in trouble. Hard to fold at that point but you really need to assess the situation and players involved.

He might have had QQ or KK but he also might have misread you for bluffing with him holding a lower pair.
