Announcing: November 2013 Fanfiction Writing Contest!

    Hey Shadow Erites!

As mentioned on Twitch.tv last week, the month of November is going to be FILLED with contests! Not only do we have a road to the World Championships, Season 9 for Quickmatch, and a Video Contest, but for our more iterary types we're also launching a full fledged writing contest!

    The Info
The contest starts as of this post, even though those who watch the stream got an early head start. We will end submissions on November 30th during the show. That's your deadline, and submissions after the show has ended will be discarded.
Each entry must be a minimum of 1,000 words, and no more than 5,000, this does NOT include title, 'chapter' separation, and other formatting nuances. Only words directly contributing to the story will be counted and passed on. Each person is allowed only 1 submission, which should be sent to Contests@Wulven.com with the title '(Your forum name)'s Fanfic'. Entries not properly labeled are not disqualified, but it might interfere with your submission being found and recognized.
The subject of your story can be anything. It can be a hero's back story, the origins of the Shadow Crystals, one of the Seven joining the battle... ANYTHING GOES. Write the thing you believe your fellows most want to read, and try to blow them away. Write what YOU most want to see in the game. Canon can be broken or stepped over by the rules, but remember that voters might not like too many creative liberties.

    D'uh, Winning
Winners will be selected in 2 stages. Over the course of the first week, the Design Team will review the submissions and decide on five that we believe embody the best this competition had to offer. We will then format the works to look the same, though typos and wordings will be left as they came.
This brings us to the second part.
On December 7th those top five will be put up alongside a public poll. Forum goers will have 1 week to cast their votes, and the winner will be announced on the stream the 14th. There is no second place; only the best shall be awarded the laurels of victory!

    Victory!
The winner gets 2,000 Shadow Crystals added to an account of your choice.
    What? Not enough? Fiiiiiiiiine

The winner also gets a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) and the right to sit down with me and the Design Team to write a piece of official lore. What it's about and how long it is will widely be decided by you. Of course that means you'll have to hear a few of the bigger secrets we're keeping under wraps, making this particular prize extra tasty.

    Fine Print
It's important to temper expectations: Not every secret will be revealed to the winner. There's some awesome stuff coming, and we'd hate to ruin the experience just because you're an awesome writer! Also worth nothing that unlike the fanfiction, some stuff will be off-limits for the canon. Hero histories, Shadow Crystals, things like that will be off-limits. That said, there are still PLENTY of areas to cover. Past events, major battles, allies and and artifacts that need origins. More on that for the winner!!
