World Championship 2013 News!

Hi all!

I know many of you have been waiting a long time for this information, and I apologise for the delay in that. Shadow Era's cross-platform nature has been both a blessing and a curse, aiding popularity over the years but also sometimes crippling our ability to give specific dates for anything.

Before the news, let's have a recap of what you should know already.

World Championship 2013 has its Grand Final on 23rd-24th November 2013. It is an invite-only event, for 16 of Shadow Era's top players.

How first 11 invites are allocated: Reigning champ (iClipse), sealed deck champ (Busti), top rank QM season 6 (Raphael Majere), top rank QM season 7 (Mojojojo), top rank QM season 8 (find out on Nov 1st), winners of 3 regionals from last year (Jacqui, KA Henson, Monomax), winners of 3 playoffs of top 2-5 from QM season 6-8 (see below).

Now the news ...

The Play-offs for Seasons 6-8 of Quick Match will take place from 1st November. Eligible players will be contacted via in-game Mail, by the email registered with their account and also via this forum (if their forum name is known).

Three of the remaining invites will go to winners of three regionals, which will take place on the weekend of 9th/10th November, and will be single-elimination, deck-lock, no sideboards, best-of-three, with a best-of-five final.

One wildcard event will take place on weekend of 16/17th November, and this will be single-elimination, deck-lock, no sideboards, best-of-three, with a best-of-five final.

One last-chance qualifier will take place the day before the Grand Finals, and this will be single-elimination, deck-lock, no sideboards, best-of-three, with a best-of-five final.

If anyone who wins an invite cannot attend the Grand Finals, their spot will be taken by whoever was the runner-up in their qualifying event, in the first instance. If there are still remaining invites available on day 1 of the Grand Finals, they will be awarded to players at Wulven's discretion, to ensure we have 16 participants.

All games in the events mentioned above will take place on the current version of the game. If your platform does not support the current version at the time of the event, you will not be able to take part.

So the leftovers are pop ups? And one is the day before the grand finals?

No. It's going to be gruelling. Really gruelling. Specific format has not been announced yet.

I presume that if mojojojo (emigor) wins the season 6 playoffs, he is eligible to relinquish his season 7 #1 WC spot, making tcsnider (#2) the auto winner.

I also presume that season 6 playoffs will be cotc only since that was discuss and agreed the last round.
