Wulven Apprentice Task 6! (Vote here!)

Hi everyone. It's been a while!

I'm very pleased to now show you what Task 6 of the Wulven Apprentice was and what both teams have produced!

    Task 6 Details

Task: Select THREE cards from the recent Community Card Contest and add TWO of your own to them, to end up with five cards that you believe will collectively be a great addition to the game.

Purpose: This task is meant to represent one of the hardest parts of being on the Design Team, where you are faced with a MOUNTAIN of ideas and need to select and refine the ones you want to use in your next set!

Guidance: Please use the judging criteria from Task 2 to help you. In other words, don't stray too far from Shadow Era as we know it. We would love to have the option to add your cards to a set in the near future, and that can't happen if it requires the game to change too much.

Tweaking: You can tweak the contest entries that you will use but you can't do a full redesign. So balancing them or changing name and artwork is OK, but completely replacing the ability is not.

    Twerking: Optional.

External help: No external help is allowed, although you do not need to do your own artwork. You can select any existing unlicensed work to use on your cards, providing you give credit to the artist and the artist has not explicitly stated you are not allowed to use their work.

Confidentiality: This task will not be revealed to the public until you are finished producing your cards, so please keep the task confidential. People will then view your cards and vote for which team they think did the best.

Winner: 80% determined by public poll, 20% by Wulven judges.

    Task 6 Submissions

Both teams submitted their card designs in text form, with links to artwork to be used. Wulven then produced the card images for them, based on what had been submitted verbatim (i.e. it's all been done as specified, with no wordings altered or anything else.)

Please check them out via the links below:

    Task 6 Results?

The winning team will be determined mostly by public poll, which opens in 24 hours from the time of this post, and partially by judges at Wulven (80% and 20%, respectively). The judging should ideally be done based on the task that was assigned, but if you wish to use other criteria to choose your favorite then that's your call.

    Voting will be open
Friday 12.30pm GMT to next Tuesday 9pm GMT

(Tapatalk users will need to visit the forum website to vote in the poll.)

Please feel free to use this thread to discuss any aspect of this task, but note that comments below will not affect the results. You will need to vote to affect the outcome.

This is probably an important thing to add here, from a Skype conversation with the WA Candidates, where I answered some questions:

    : but don't present 5 independent cards!

: the 2 you design need to work with at least 1 of the 3 you picked

    : make sense?

: This task has the unofficial name of the High Stakes Poker challenge

: since you get 3 and add 2 of your own

: and they need to work together to some extent

: otherwise, you just end up with worse than a pair

: "High Card", also known as "Busted Hand"

    : that's it

: don't finish the task with that

Unfortunately, I don't have references for where some of the card contest entries came from to hand, so I will need to dig them up and add them into the posts, so the originators get the credit they deserve and you can see the originals vs the submitted versions.

Random Heroes' Darksword and Suit of the Iron Maiden are both modified from my submissions. (Iron Maiden post #12, Darksword post#107)

I'm going to have to consider my vote very carefully for this one, I'm already swayed to Random Heroes because they used mine

Well, I prefer RH designs. I really like the theme of discarding they presented. If put in current set it would fit in nicely with cards like Pay Day and Elicit information that couldn't work because of missing synergies. I am only not sure about 4 durability Darksword because of Zaladar. With chain of SF and Furrion this can be devastating. And it doesn't really help Elementalis who struggles more with draw than Zaladar.
NA on the other hand took the other road of offering something for everyone. Which is ok, but Green Knight is OP of OP-ness.
Green Knight is a Sandworm with steadfast and more health and high attack on human side that can easily boost his attack even further. FOR ONLY +1 COST difference to Sandworm. And it can kill allies without attacking! Seriously, OP.
I don't like gains +1 in Value if I'll Gotten. It sounds like it is permanent bonus they would gain if condition is met. If theme of discards really becomes a thing this one can get out of hands. I would prefer if it was with has +1 attack and has +1 defence. But I could be wrong. It would be fun testing it.

So i decided to twerk before doing this post.

Both teams went different routes. NA with independent cards that seems like will definitely be useful in the respective classes if added to the cardpool of each heroes. RH , on the other hand, focused on "discard" and maximizing the synergy and potential of discarding.

Overall, both teams did well. *Applause*

Was that a rule? If yes, does that mean that NA did not follow the rule? Were they aware of it?

Caleb and Sean were both there. They both commented within one minute of my last quoted line.
