Maybe there could be different tiers for players so pay 25 or 50 sc to enter novice then 100 sc for intermediate or something of a sort

to avoid this: unlock this feature at level 15 or 20, which could protect new players from wasting their sc too.

Like others have said but what about an option for these Tourneys that you pay Gold entry fee and win Gold. For those who don't have a lot of SC. That way you don't get to keep the cards but you get to use them, like the way MD individual games are now. And if you are using your own then it doesn't matter you just win Gold. Or if it needs to be SC, then you could make it 25sc. So those players who want to play a tourney and don't have a lot of SC then they could level up and play in a tourney.

And if you have and want to pay 500sc to 700sc then you get to keep the cards. But there should be at least one Foil guaranteed in the 4 to 6 packs you buy. That will generate a lot more SC sink knowing that you will get a foil if you enter. And then you get to keep the rest and that I think would generate a lot of playing where others wouldn't normally play. But make it that you have to play the all of the games to "earn" that Foil. So that people don't just buy in for the Foil.

Or just have the 1st place and 2nd place for 8 man and 1st place for 4 man win as part of the pot a Foil each?

Good idea, but I think one random foil for all competitors who play to the end would work better. Then you might get more than one if you found one in your packs. Cheers!

I too think one random foil for all who play to end is better too I think I wouldn't mind shelling out some SC if I knew I was getting a random foil.
