Also, you suggested The Thing. The original, done in like 1983 or so was GREAT. The remake, done a few years ago, was also awesome. Even moreso when you realize in the final scene that it's actually a prequel and not a remake

I have only seen the original haha, I don't have much time to watch these days as my laptop died some months ago but thank you for reminding. That was on my list.

I echo the sentiments for the The Descent. Shutter is good as well.

Also may all american peeps forgive me but americans remake of asian horror movies arent even scary to me lol
Its not the fact that i dont like them, but they are not that good compared to other horror movies or even the originals

Also it interests me the fact that nobody said anything about Ringu and its american remake The Ring
And even The Grudge...

Agreed that American remakes suck. The Grudge was terrible in my opinion and the only thing that made it partially watchable was Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Watched the first Saw yesterday and I have to say the end ruined it for me.

Is Saw really an horror movie series?
Theres nothing scary in those movies, just massive gore/splatter scenes

The only thing that actually "scared" me of the american remakes of Ju-On is Kayako's strange moaning
But damn Ju-On is one hell of a movie
And yeah, i watched The Grudge just for her
