Yea $5 for the core set, and $2-3 for each expansion. Well worth it imo.

No you didn't waste your money. Just with the core set you can also have loads of fun with the game. Try it, and play around with other players (since few of us here have posted our ign). If you enjoyed the core set, then decide whether you want to buy the expansion.

Trust us, I played more games on ascension than my years of SE combined, because it's easy to play and convenient with no worry about d/c.

Love it! Met the co-designer, John Fiorillo, at Indy GenCon 2010 and played it, purchased it, and have loved both that and the apple app for it. Have kept up with the expansions both digitally and physically, including promo cards, but for some reason did not like the Rise of the Vigil expansion so I'll probably just stop keeping up with it and just enjoy what I have. Perfect example of a small startup who actually can release stuff both physical and digital, in a reasonable timeframe to keep people interested.

Nice to see others enjoy it, too

(yes I've been in contact with their support guys, they've done what they can to solve the issue, still sucks though.... If I had had a bigger bag at Gencon I could have just bought it there lol)

Fun game though. I've never been into this kind of market until SE so Ascension was my first game into this "deck-building game" genre. Apparently it gets compared to something called Dominion a lot.... I should look that up I guess lol.
Dominion is a blast! If you go on BoardGameGeek, there are alot of people who posted fan made cards with artwork and everything. That was my first deckbuilding game, Ascension was 2nd for me. My neighbor and I have Dominion nights (I played it physically first, now digitally also) and it's funny because we play for $1 each per game (ha), and we're so evenly matched that at the end of the night one of us might have $3 profit. Still, for some reason, this game lends itself well to light betting, although it's certainly not necessary.

Sure I'll set a game up with you.

I'm sorry you purchased the game without realizing what you were getting, but know that many of us enjoy the first set quite a bit (heck, 1ndeed only has the first set). Even when I search for people online there are tons of games out there for just the first set. So I'm with Atomzed on this one, while it wasn't what you were expecting, its still a great package.

Honestly, I only play with the core set and the second expansion. The others are underwhelming IMO.

I thought 3rd set SoS was pretty fun, beside the Event, there's few more cool combos one gets to make. Which is card game all about, combo.
