My understanding is that passive ability is disabled until the end of your turn regardless if MA survives unlike celestial armor which quotes ability will end on destruction of armor

I think it worked in the right way. Just one of bug fix in 2.01.

No, it's a different case. MA's text specifically says "while Morbid Acolyte is in play". If he dies, his triggered ability should wear off, immediately.
