I played seven games and all as first player. All of them I got 40 gold. Then I won one game as second player and I got 80. So far my theory holds true.
A little more transparency in the scoring, gold, experience, and payout would be nice. I play the format mostly because I like limited formats like this. So the gold back at the end of the week is pretty much icing on the cake. It probably wouldn't hurt to be a little more generous on the payback. I am pretty sure for the most part you will break even at the end at 200 gold a game. It is nice they give a little gold back immediately for a win.
