    FF’s The Incredible Wulf [Darkclaw]

    The Incredible Wulf

I’ve been in a long time now using an ally Based Darkclaw deck since I brew it in 1.5. The problem I discovered was his Draw engine that didn’t keep the quality he needed. When I saw the DP spoilers Blood Moon, I became hyped and maybe even naive but I KNEW that Darkclaw would become a beast he really are.

    Darkclaw:
    X4 Ironhide Karash
    X4 Gary
    X4 Death Mage Thaddeus
    X4 Lightning Hunter

    X3 Now You’re Mine
    X2 Captured Prey

    X4 Speedstrike

    X4 Blood Moon
    X3 Bad Santa

    X4 Jeweler’s Dream
    X3 What a Big Teeth

    39 cards +hero

    Deck type: [Aggro-control/tempo]

    “You’re my hero” -Chanson311

Probably the first you see is that I don’t run any tech cards at all! I’ve never felt it’s really that important because instead of trying to destroy their draw engine, I race them with my own draw instead and Blood Moon with Bad Santa does enough. Also with Speedstrike and a weapon he usually takes out all the durability of a weapon or armor anyway. If you face Snow Sapphire, you’re mostly dead but who use it anyway so I care less.

The deck itself, unlike other rush decks, this isn’t as straight forward as it looks. I admit that I’ve lost games with it because of bad judging the situation if I need to go for the dome or for board. What makes it a bit more difficult is to what to sac and the timing when you need to play the card the most effective situation. I often stay for a while at only 4-5 resources. It’s not an easy deck to pilot but when you get the hang of it; you get huge rewarded for his explosive play.

    Into some single cards:

Ironhide Karash: Pretty much self-explanatory right now. He’s a good beater and can attack into most allies without being harmed.
Infernal Gargoyle: Much like Karash, he’s self-explanatory.
Death Mage Thaddeus: My pseudo haste ally! He allows me to use Speedstrike on turn 3 into turn 4 JD + him and it usually wipes the early board, putting you into early game advantage.
Lightning Hunter: This dude (or chick, I dunno) is what makes you think with your SE brain a bit more. He’s a great ally but with the drawback that he makes you lose shadow energy which you usually want to use as effective as possible and that he nukes away your own Also like DMT, Speedstrike + JD + LH!
Now You’re Mine/Captured Prey: Nothing wrong with some ally removals 
Speedstrike: The reason I use him over the most weapon based decks. Double attack with JD to renew your resources!
Blood Moon: Thee butter on your bread. The cherry on the top. It’s what keeping the deck going and the solution that DC is worth playing.
Bad Santa: Another good draw card. The reason I choose this instead of Sac Lamb is that it has more tempo and it’s more flexible, with SL you need an ally to make it useful and it’s kinda reactive when this deck wants to be proactive. Also this build tend to go out of fuel quickly and if you don’t have any allies to use Sac Lamb on, yeah… painful.
Jeweler’s Dream: My main weapon. That it accelerate your resource and double it with Speed that makes your play so explosive but you will wear it down so I have:
What Big Teeth: I often play it after I’m done with JD and not vice versa but it’s still good plan B if you don’t get your JD. This is good if you want to wear down the opponent’s weapon or armor and it stays longer and you can ping the opponent every turn. Good in the long run.

    Fine!
    Going first:
    t1 - nothing
t2 - Ironhide/Blood Moon. I prefere Iron because he deals enough damage for me to death race later on.
t3 - Speedstrike if you have JD in hand, otherewize just Gary or DMT
    t4 - Weapon/Moon, DMT/Hunter if you played Speed on t3 into t4 JD
t5 - Speedstrike, if you aven't already played it.
    Going second:
    t1 - nothing
    t2 - Iron/BS/Moon
    t3 - Garg/DMT
    t4 - Weapon
    t5 - Speedstrike

I run very similar DC!! I sometimes swap NYM and CP with Shadow Font for a quick win, or if I see Aeon often.

I'd like to know what you think about the optimal t2~t5 play with this deck

My T2-5 approach is TOTALLY diferent from urs...

Um... Who the hell is "Gary"?

Nice list btw, been running the 'dancing dark claw' version that's here on the forums but this looks like its got some merits as well.

I love using dark claw thanks to blood moon. My DC decklist is also the same instead of gargoyle I use MA. But based on my recent matchups. Gargoyle last longer its just a better ally

Gary the gargoyle. Better than running Larry the lamb.

    Good write up FF.

Here's the hybridization I'm testing ATM.
    4 Ironhide Karash
    2 Morbid Acolyte
    2 Gargoyle
    2 Thaddeus
    2 Lightning Hunter
    3 Shadow Knight
    3 Tiger Wulf

    4 Captured Prey
    4 Speedstrike
    4 Blood Moon
    2 Bad Santa

    2 Wrath of the Forest
    3 What Big Teeth
    4 Jeweler's Dream

    41 cards + Hero

So far I've played not many games since modifying my previous list, but it feels pretty powerful. I expect that a lot of folks will balk at some of my two-ofs, but I kind of like this approach for the three-drop creatures, because they all shine in various matchups without losing much in the way of general utility even when they're less needed (they still all attack for 2, after all.)
Basically, I'm trying to remain aggressive with my list, while developing a little more late-game power through a couple concessions against my raw speed. Chaining Tiger Wulfs and Shadow Knights together with a WotF in play just generates the type of late-game card advantage most decks aren't capable of holding up to. It's a little fragile though, because obviously everything this deck seeks to do relies on being able to retain board control and/or race the opponent.

I think maybe I should find a way to max out my Lightning Hunters, since they are so good at taking back the board (especially with a weapon.)

    Any feedback?

Another card I think you should consider to add more is Wrath of the Forest. This is the card-draw engine and excellent against any board swipe. Il prefer this armor in Howlfang type deck which has more 3cc Wulven or creature swarm type Moonstalker deck. Also if you can play Wotf timely, you can make opponent hard to use the swiper.
