my 1st deck (frostmire)

hi all , im new here and yes went the noobish way of the mage.

my aim is a casting damage/debuff/stagger deck

40 card deck **UPDATED OP**

4 Sandword
3 Tainted Oracle
4 Fireball
3 Supernova
4 Lightning Strike
2 Snow Saphire
2 Dagger Of Unmaking
4 Consuming Fear
2 Treasured Heirloom
1 ley line nexus

Quite a few holes in this deck but first why would you want to play Control? Elad Rush seems to me to be the best beginning point in SE. Cheap yet competitive

You have a decent start but DoT spells aren't that good unless your going stall or solo. But these decks aren't that competitive. It looks like your trying to do a rush type deck here's a typical one:

4 kris
4 puwen or irum
3 Aldon
4 potl

4 fireball
4 lightning strike
4 tomes
3-4 nova
3 bad Santa ( or honoured dead)
2 ley line nexus
1 sever ties
3 retreat or crippling wed or consuming fear.

hmmm yes the holes are becoming more obvious.
ive removed one of each DoT and replaced with 2 sandra for the resource kill it offers.
Im not really a rush player (unless its RTS (dawn of war))
I seem to take a few hits from ally rush untill ive built up enough res to hit back. ive just gone PVP hero went down to 50% health (enemy hero 95%) put down snow saphire voice of winter sandworm and then ruled the board with abilities (web retreat fire lightning) went on to win.

can you guys with you more experienced eyes see any HUGE wrongs with this so far? im updating OP as I go.

Edit; i dont like the look of bad santa. giving oponent cards seems bad

No DoT they're too slow and too ineffective. Needs more 3cc allies. Jasmine I would always consider in a Control archetype. Oh and look at Yvan's deck. You'll notice most of his cards are 4x and 3x, this is so you're more likely to draw your key cards. Figure out you key win cons. Burn is always important so 4x of Fireball and LS maybe 3x Supernova, 4x for more consistency. Allies are also a win con. Find your key allies, this deck will likely be Jas and Sandworms. Max them 4x. Then add more allies, especially 3cc allies, they play a key role in SE. Draw too. ToK is good but typically not enough. Consider Tainted Oracle or Treasured Heirloom

For Control no, Bad Santa is bad. But that deck is a Rush deck, your cards are more important than his so BS is ok, for other archetypes you're right it's bad. Would switch Clinging Webs for Consuming Fear, permanently shuts down the ally rather than just delay. I wouldn't play VoW either. Snow Sapphire is ok but VoW doesn't help with the existing board and it only works well if you have Frosted Urigon

consuming fear look too good to pass up
super nova intsa kill / get out of jail free card it seems
voice of winter....yes i agree , plus it backfires too much at the moment with my lack of allies

think ill invest some buck and see where I end up

I think Puwen is better than Champion of Irum (for rush) as you can play more than one. Maybe 4x Puwen + 1 or 2 CoI. Dome of Energy, DoT, Sandra, VoW, RD, Kurt, Snow Sapphire and Armored Sandworm are not necessary for this archetype.
