It's not really a noteworthy subject. WoW hemorrhages subs like this pretty frequently, but Blizzard's name carries enough clout that they still take in new subs and returning players. They're still posting profit, so it doesn't really matter in the long run.

Never played WoW in my whole life. I never intend to. I certainly cant afford twenty bucks a month. Specially with the abundance of free games.

I played WoW for a few years, I can tell you it can be quite a drain on cash. (I quit in early Cataclysm)
Plus the game just started getting much worse after the WotLK expansion, Cataclysm didn't help very much, but from what I saw of Mists of Pandaria, it became a rather good game again.
Many issues were fixed and balanced and it started going back to its old roots, unfortunately it just wasn't enough to make up for the last two expansions. >.<

Pandaria pales in comparison with Cataclysm and it was out for enough time for people to get bored of it.
