It isn't useless. It's near useless. You can use it with Shadow Armor in Solo Darkclaw to keep your SE high at all times. But, the strategy isn't good because it relies on you having so many pieces to make it work.

Not to mention 6cc for Shadow Armor as well.

+1. Thick Hide is a decent tech card against certain strategies and helps make Solo Wulven a little more viable, particularly Solo Darkclaw, but it is significantly better in Meltdown. And there's nothing wrong with that. Besides, I wouldn't want to see Warriors using it with Blood Frenzy, and it could potentially make Loest's Burden more than viable if available to Mages.
