Didn't s/he use forgiveness on T2 and wasn't the discarded card 3rd forgiveness-ed card? Added resource card by Stop Thiefor Forgiveness
it doesnt add a nonsense card to your hand kylt, it adds the bottom discarded card.

Include more than 3 forgiveness, use 1 on turn 2 and wait for the 3rd forgiveness and see what happens. In addition, if your opponent uses 1 HBM or Cobraskin Wrap, then the bottom card of the resource pile is destroyed. So you can see what happens with 2nd forgiveness.
Also, I think in the physical card ruling, players meant to use a nonsense card or something to replace/add 1 resource caused by Forgiveness

well frankly....thats just stupid, no other card in SE works without a valid target (therefore thats a bug in and of itself) you can't cast any other conditional card on a non existant target and "create" a target for it analogy would be casting assumed command with no allies out. If you have no cards sacrificed (all are token) you should not be able to recurse a token to your hand.
