Question about Morbid Acolyte

On my board: Armored Sandworm (2/5)

His board: Morbid Acolyte (2/2), Gruntler's Double (3/3 - Summoned with Baduruu's Ability)

He use MA's ability on my AS, then proceed to hit my AS, AS becomes 2/3 and retaliates, killing the MA.

But then he used his GD to hit my AS, only minus 1hp, end up my AS is 2/2 when the turn ends.

So my question is this:

Will the effect removed by MA's ability is restored if the MA dies within the MA's controller's turn or his opponent's turn?

Morbid Acolyte's text says that his ability's effect only lasts while MA is in play.
