People who say GL/GG

I have a question for you guys : Would you be offended if, just before winning, your opponent said one of the following :

good game
wp
well played
wow, that was a fun game!

In other words, is the problem that ‘gg’ has a “history”?

Completely agree. People perceive it as offensive as that's the context they've seen it done to others. Similar to "$%^&" being viewed as a censored word as opposed to a collection of random symbols.

That said, the general thumb of rule on the internet, whether if it is commenting in a game or on a forum, should be that if you cannot say anything polite or remotely constructive, don't say anything at all. But alas as we all know the trolls will ignore this at any chance they will get, in order to boost their so-called ego. Only thing to do here is ignore the troll that feeding them is a futile quest if you are not well equipped with flamethrowers or at the least being a versatile writer yourself in order to undermine and expose the troll. The latter will usually end up in a fight with images iirc.
