Ironhide Karash + Ascendant of the Horde - maybe a bug

Karash reduces damage to 0, if combat damage dealt to it is 2 or less. Ascendant of the hordes reduces all damage to allies cost 2 or less by 1. Shouldn't cumulative effect of these 2 cards be that all combat damage 3 or less dealt to Karash is reduced to 0? Or is it that 3 damage (of Aldon for example) is firstly dealt, and then reduced, so it kills Karash even if it's reduced to 2, because it's dealt first? Don't get it entirely.
