Time to get another WC2013 spot!!
In the use of Wulven’s power and blessings, I’m announcing the Official Tournament: Call of the Crystals Official Online Sealed Deck Championship.
Yeah, you heard me. It’s CotCOOSDC.
This tournament will crown the Sealed Deck Worldwide Champion, as well as concede one invitation (for the winner) to SE World Championships, in 2013!!
It will very soon be revealed the detailed rules of this format, but we wanted to give you a first heads up, so you can know what to expect.
OVERVIEW
DEADLINE FOR ENTRY (signup in Stage 1) will soon start and will end at 05 January 2013.
Stage 1 - Swiss Stage
Stage 2 - Grand Finals (Top 16)
Conditions
Using similar structure to the Regionals format, but with some twists and changes (that will be announced further ahead), this will be a Sealed Deck format, where players will have to build a given deck of 40-card minimum (hero + at least 39 other cards), built from a pool of cards that will be granted to each player trough a set of given boosters, and unique to each of them.
There will be twists in each round, to make it more competitive and strategic.
The entrance in this tourney is free.
All you have to do is sign up with the exact IGN you are going to use in the tourney. That may not change during the entire tournament, and since you signed up.
A new thread will soon be created to start collecting sign-ups, with further details about this format!!
Stage 1 - Swiss Stage
Stage 1 is sized for 128 players.
If signups surpass that number, a choice will be made based on each IGN’s QM rating, roughly at the time of Signup Deadline.
Swiss stage is set for 7 rounds, and every player will play each round.
Further details about matchup rules, scoring system, swiss rounds and deck building rules will soon be given, that will further enlight all the nuances of this format, that will be more challenging and strategic that you might first expect from this type of format.
Stage 2 - Grand Finals (Top 16)
Grand Finals is previewed to happen in the first March 2013 weekend.
Grand Finals will work in a Single Elimination Tournament style, as in WC Finals, with a Bo3 matchup in all rounds.
They will be played with 16 players, the top 15 players ranked in the Swiss Rounds, and 1 Wild Card.
At this stage, all players will have a card pool composed of initial sealed boosters, plus bonus boosters.
A great important twist here is that you will also be able to change your hero, if you want, to any hero that is part of your new booster card pool.
A new deck may be made, with same 40 card minimum limit.
There will be a 3rd place play-off in the Finals.
Prizes
Grand Prize is yet to be revealed, but
the winner will secure himself/herself a WC2013 spot!
There will be prizes for all the top 32, to be discriminated in a later phase.
Winner will also get official Forum title, just like in the World Championship.
Last-Chance Qualifier (week prior to Grand Finals)
Anyone who misses out on registering to the Swiss Stage, or does not make the top 15 in that Stage, can take part on a last-chance qualifier tournament that will happen prior to the Grand Finals, where the winner will secure the Wild Card, guaranteeing a spot in the top 16.
This will be a Single Elimination Tournament, that any player can access. It will also be a Bo3 Tourney.
