Well, in the end I was half-right. There was a problem, but not a problem IRC could fix. My opponent never showed up. He stated, through an intermediary (KA mcley) that he could play from 12 pm - 2 pm GMT on Friday. Fortunately, this time worked for me. We agreed to play at that time. I PMed Stonecold to tell him I'd make the game at 12:30 GMT, if he PMed me to confirm he'd be waiting. Mcley also told me he could help arrange g1, so I hopped on IRC at about GMT 12:10 when I saw his message. By 12:15 GMT, Stonecold hadn't come online on whatever IM service the two were using, and Mcley had to leave. At 12:30 GMT I told him I'd give him 15 more minutes, which I did, then I left. Came back now, at 13:15 GMT, still no reply.

i think we got discommunity, i ask mcley date u play at 22nov, not tonite,
n mcley told me u can play, yesterday i already pm u can play at last nite or nt,
but until tonite u just inform me , i wait u whole nite last nite
