There is one more thing that has been bugging me about meltdown. Meltdown is being treated as though it is the number one competitive spot for elite players to grind. However, to me, the format of meltdown seems as though it should actually be treated as the more casual form of the game because of how less strict all the rules are. It actually requires less understanding to get started, but with the increased risk of playing with gold, it prohibits noobies from trying it out.
Shouldn't the vanilla game have the gold betting and meltdown be the casual form of the game?
Meltdown doesn't require less understanding. You need to know the game better to be able to form a decent deck out of a limited supply of cards, and quickly as well. Meltdown also doesn't have a rating matchmaking feature, so even though you might have no experience or understanding of Meltdown, you could be paired against the top player in the world.
I made pumpkins! Firesnake and Plasma Behemoth.
I daydream about cards too.

I don't know where you got this idea from but the way I see it, it's a place where veterans with money (not necessarily elite) can play and possibly earn back their money in a format that brings freshness to the game that has become routine and less exciting. I would actually suggest to new players to enjoy the vanilla game first before trying out meltdown as understanding the various heroes and their cardpool first would probably help them be more successful in meltdown.
