Announcing the 2013 World Championships!
After much consideration and planning, next year's World Championships will be organized as an exclusive invite-only event, where sixteen of the world's best players will clash to fight it out for the title of Shadow Era World Champion 2013!

The Invitations
The first invitation is to be awarded to iClipse, our reigning World Champion, so that he can defend his title against these new challengers. Three more are to be awarded during December to the winners of three Regional Qualifiers (for the Americas, Europe and Asia/Oceania). The remaining invitations will be hard won in a series of events between now and the World Championships, leaving little doubt that the players who make the cut have earned their right to battle for the title.

Don't think that tournaments are the only way they're going to be earned, however ...

Starting with Season 6 and going forward, the top-rated Quick Match players will be given a special chance at winning an invite. These are just a few of the ways we're looking to bring the best to the table, and a glimpse of some of the Official Organized play that we've got planned for you all. How to win the remaining spots will be announced as they come closer to being available!

The Tournament
The 2013 World Championships will take place in November 2013 and will be a digital 16-player tournament comprised entirely of players who have proven their merit in various events spanning the months before. Due to the nature of this event, all decks submitted by the contenders will be published after the Champion is crowned, and games may be streamed with commentary whilst being played.

Further details, including the exact date and format of the tournament, will be released closer to the time of the actual event.

Those sixteen are selected from players from all over the world, based on performance in qualifying events. It's bigger this way!

Basically, I agree with GDC, the selection process at the last WC is good; 2013 is made even better.

By the way, it would be cool AND fair if the final tournament this time is a double elimination instead of single elimination.
