vs Gwen

Hi!

Any tips on how to beat Gwen using Zaladar? Is it possible without specifically teching for Gwen like if I run into her in QM?

Short answer: nope.

Longer answer: It's theoretically possible that you win if you draw more lay line nexus than they draw soul seeker/katar/lily. But you have to get real lucky. You could also try to tech with bad cards like armor of ages and soul reaper, but bad cards are bad. Treat it as an autoloss and move on. Zaladar is just not quick enough and doesn't have enough sources of damage to kill gwen before she sets up, particularly because mind control is pretty bad in the matchup.

All mages have trouble when face gwen,and unfortunately zaladar is an anti-mage,so.....

A very good card to kill Gwen is Sever Ties. Run two of those, along with 2 times Ley Line Nexus, and that should help a lot already. Always kill those Rapid Fires as soon as you can.

Edit: Brutal Minotaurs, or 5 and 6 health allies are also pretty hard to kill for Gwen.

A DR zal, could still beat a Gwen if he is lucky enough... if u really want to tech against Gwen. Your best bet's are LLN, severed ties n shadowspawn (but this 2 cards won't do u any good against other heroes). Dropped those dreaded PB n as many allies as possible.

Sever ties is best. It has synergy w/ oggy and is rarely expected. I wouldn't lower myself to using shadowspawn. LLN is another obvious; however, destroying a weapon means lily becomes a 2 for 1.

Your best allies to deal with Gwen is ANYTHING she cannot kill in a single strike with her Soul Seeker. This includes Gargoyle. It has two benefits:

1: She obviously isn't aiming at your face.
2: Her heal is at least partially negated by the allies first retaliation attack.

In my opinion, Plasma Behemoth is your best bet for this, as it's such a huge threat that it MUST be removed.

But, the fight vs Gwen is always an uphill battle. Do not expect a great win rate against her without teching.
