It wouldn't be as expensive as you thought. Just a simple google search on "glass trophies and awards" produced:

For around $150 total, they could provide a 1st (large) 2nd (medium) and 3rd (still large but not not as large as the 1st place) actual trophy to the winner. Go figure that's cheaper than the ipad and yet some people (myself) would be more inclined to join a tourney for this than an IPod/Ianything as I am not an I fan =)

Personally, I think it wouldn't be insane to go for a trophy for 1st-3rd, and on top of it, first gets a collector's edition, 2nd gets a booster box with premium/exlusive foils, and 3rd gets a booster box. Cost wise it's about equivelent to an ipad... and it gives people something that is shadow era related.

Actually, finding manufacturer is harder than you might think. For example the site that you provided link to only offers limited amount of customization (http://www.crownawards.com/StoreFron...m_Trophies.cat - change engraving or logo) and probably won't mess with custom design trophy (is that really a trophy? I haven't seen trophies that light up from inside, it's more like a lamp to me).

I'm going to try to purchase a sample trophy first, paid for by a generous contributor that also thinks this is a great idea.
