Ever since Origins when I first saw the game played with physical cards, I have been thinking about how to mark this game efficiently. With so many moving stats and effects on so many different cards all needing to be marked accurately and simultaneously, simplification seems necessary.
Status effects are the most difficult things to mark currently because of how many kinds there are. Most people I have seen (including the Wulven design team) use many different colored stones or chips to mark the statuses, but I find these to be unintuitive, annoying, and they take up a LOT of space. So at GenCon I came up with a bag-friendly solution. I got some blank dice and hand-wrote the different statuses on them. It worked well, and since then I have turned the idea into this:
I call these "Status Symbols" and you can see that they are dice meant to mark status effects without taking up much space and they work quite well. You'll find that I left out certain effects from this batch such as haste and ambush. They were left out because they are used on the turn they are applied and thus are less important to be remembered through multiple turns. Other effects like Protector are left out because while possible, it is very rare for these things to be temporarily applied to an ally.
I am pleased to report that I have found a way to produce these in enough quantity to share with the rest of the Shadow Era community. I have the first production run up for sale on eBay right now in convenient sets of 4. I have only 50 of these sets available for the first run, so get yours today!
