    Meltdown Format

Those of you who have had the pleasure of playing a Meltdown event in person will attest to how much fun it is and how it's a good mixture of luck and skill.

Well, this format will soon be coming to the digital game, so I wanted to give you a heads-up on it.

    How it works

In the sealed version, you open 4 booster packs and make the best deck you can using one of the heroes you pulled and any of the other non-hero cards, completely ignoring faction and class restrictions. The minimum deck size is 30, including hero.

I've made a simulator, so you can try out the deckbuilding part now.

    Tips for Players

As if I'm going to give tips at this point! I made this thread for people to share their experiences so far and speculate on what the best deckbuilding strategies will be when it goes live.

    Discuss away!

    There will be two versions:

Quick Meltdown - you get 4 packs to make a deck, you build your deck and face a random opponent who also got 4 packs. At the end, you do not keep the cards. It is 100% free.

Tournament Meltdown - you buy 4 packs to enter with your SC, you build the deck, you play the tournament and you keep your cards (and prizes).

Hmm... just a weird question - think there will be an opportunity for a 'booster draft' version of this in the tournament method? As opposed to a straight up booster grab?

Booster Draft Meltdown is not an official format at the moment, but it could become official. We're talking about it within the Design Team at the moment. The online version will not start out as booster draft, but since booster draft tournaments are coming for normal play then I don't see why there could not be a mix of the two made available.

Well i had some friends and my girl play meltdown.
it was alot of fun. My girlfriend played GA and EA and it was game over lol.
the no restriction play was something i wasnt used to and i subconsciously tried to build as regular
and i didnt win once lol. But we also played free for all and my advice is go for warrior with rampage.
the healing for the death of enemy allies was too much. My gf played boris. She won every one of the like six or ten
we played. Each game on avg was 2-3 hrs long. Zaladars ability dominates. It actually made
a huge difference as some cards read heroes like PotL and zal.
Rogue was run. I usually got a full hand w IIG in free for all. CV was a huge life saver.
Also Jericho was a bane for the warrior and wolf. When i built it and played the second game my 3
opponents instantly went after me. Tidal wave and his ability was a huge upset for them.
There were alot of good plays w cards i dont see used much online. All in all a good play.

This update would require waiting on Apple's approval. I think you have been here long enough to realize what that means.
