(Finished) DESTourney - Nahar's Double Elimination Sealed Tournament

Well, guys, i tought we have a gap regarding tourney organization in the Sealed format.
As i've been able to organize, recently, some internal guild sealed tourneys with great degree of success, i tought i could make an open one too, trying to fill in that gap.

This one will be a Double Elimination tourney, which will bring some added fun to our scheme of play, as one loss will not be enough to kick a player out of the brackets.
One loss will place players in the lower part of the brackets, but still with all the chances to win the tourney.
One needs to lose 2 rounds to be out, hence the double elimination name.

I'll use mainly the rules inscribed in this forum for this format, with some minor twists.
Please go here: http://www.shadowera.com/showthread....t-Ready-to-Use and read them. (will also post them in another post, bellow)

I will be Tournament Organizer so i won't get in, due to fairness and to the necessity of having to pick boosters compositions to all players and to work as deck checker

I was aiming this for at least 32 players, since i really think it can be a fun format (the double elimination and the sealed components), and not very seen... Let's see how it goes. (we can have more if needed...)

After signups are closed, i'll PM each player with their boosters composition (i'll use 15 boosters to each player; after some experience in this format i think this is the perfect number), giving 48h for each one to PM me with their deck's composition, made from the link i gave to each one, and after you picked the cards you wanted).

After that, i'll set the schedule for each round.

    GENERAL RULES:

    - Fairness above all. Don't change ur decks outside the lists delivered. I will have deck compositions of all players and i will be able to check the games, if reported for that.
    - 40 Card decks (hero included) as minimum. Deck lock after submission.
    - Bo3 rounds, double elimination model.
    - Pairups on Challonge.

    PRIZES (co-sponsored by Wulven):

    1st. 6000 SC
    2nd. 3000 SC

(with the Generous Sponsor of Wulven, if we get to 64 players!!)

Any doubts, please feel free to ask here or trough PM.
More specific rules and sign-ups will follow.

    Let's start this.

    HOW DOES IT WORK?

    1.
Tournament Organizer (TO) goes to the following page and opens boosters for the players: http://shadowera.gondorian.com/sealeddeck.php?packs=15

    2. TO notes down the code for player 1

    3. TO repeats steps 1-2 for each additional player.

    4. TO sends the reference codes to the players by PM and they go and view their packs:e.g. http://shadowera.gondorian.com/seale...2993AA8BF40885

    5. Each player makes the best deck they can using just those cards in those packs, by following links at the bottom of the page for each hero and then trimming down.

    6. Players send their best deck URL to the TO, and then the tournament happens!

    ADDITIONAL INFO

    1. Atm i hope to reach 64 signups before Friday night gmt+0, 10th Aug. If so, at that time, i'll try to send a PM to everyone, with their booster composition, giving you guys the weekend to pick a deck from it and answer back with it's URL, for validation.

    2. I will then state the time limits for each round in both parts of the brackets, since they will happen in slightly shifted timelines. As the bottom brackets are feeded from the upper brackets, i will have to give a fixed schedule for the upper brackets matchups, and a conditional schedule for the bottom ones.

    DETAILED RULES

    General Rules:

    1. Each matchup will be a best of three games, with 40 card deck minimum (incluiding hero).
    2. Deck content is locked trough all the tourney, to the lists you sent me by PM.
    3. A sync error will have to be replayed unless a player concedes.
    4. A frozen game will have to be replayed unless a player concedes.
    5. If a player is disconnected during a game, the victory goes to the other player unless BOTH players agree to replay or a player concedes.

    Schedules:

    1. In the interest of all the participants, i will be very strict in the application of the rules posted in here, and with the schedules that will be set. I feel that it's in the interest of everyone that such a huge tourney can be kept on the move, not stalling, waiting for 2 or 3 players, so i hope all of you understand that this strictness is being applied in the best interest of all.

    2. That said, the schedules for this tourney will work in 2 different schemes: a setted fixture for the upper brackets (i'll call it the winner's brackets from now on), with 5 days to play, and a conditional fixture for the bottom brackets (loser's brackets), with 3 days to play (i'll explain further), as a way to keep a huge tourney like this moving without many stalls, and allowing the upper and bottom parts to be more or less in sync.

So, for the winner's brackets, the first Rounds will have the following schedule:

    R1: Play it until 18 Aug, 23.30 GMT+0
    R2: Play it until 23 Aug, 23.30 GMT+0
    R3: Play it until 28 Aug, 23.30 GMT+0
    R4: Play it until 02 Sep, 23.30 GMT+0
    R5: Play it until 07 Sep, 23.30 GMT+0

Players will report results in this thread, and this will go on as a "regular" tourney. Situations were players fail to play within the fixed schedules will be analized by me, and auto-wins will be awarded as soon as possible, to keep things flowing.

For the loser's brackets, and as that part of the brackets is feeded with the eliminations from the winner's matchups, all players will have 3 full days (72h), conditioned, counting from the moment that the last player "entered" that specific matchup.
Let me give you an example, to clarify what i mean:

    Winner's bracket R1 matchup: Nahar vs Chanson - 0-2 - Result reported at 23 Aug, 11.30 gmt+0
    Winner's bracket R1 matchup: Ace vs Airact - 2-1 - Result reported at 24 Aug, 14.53 gmt+0
At the loser's bracket, this 2 matchups are paired, meaning that we'll have a
Nahar vs Airact, that will have 3 full days to be played, counting from 24 Aug, 14.53 gmt+0 until 27 Aug, 14.53 gmt+0.

Ofc, you all can imagine that this is uncontrollable by the Tournament Organizer, with so many different timelines happening simultaneously. So, what i will do is trust that the players will abide by the rules.

I'll work, in this, NOT as a permanent checker of all this timelines, but as an intervention guy.
Meaning that i will be like a referee, walking trough tables in a physical tourney.

If one player calls me (PMing me) to say "hey, i've been trying to play in the last 3 days and i coudn't, no answer so far", then i'll check the situation out and rule a potential autowin. I assume that everyone is interested in playing and moving along with this.

I will also, ofc, make periodical checks for the games that are taking too long, and analyse the situations presented.

This 2 systems will lead us to the semifinals and to the finals.

When we get near that, i'll release schedules for that matches, since we will have to sync winner's and loser's brackets (they will be happening more or less simultaneously, but not exactly, as the players in the bottom side of the brackets will have to play much more matchups to get to the finals than the ones in the upper side of the charts.)

I'm, ofc, totally available to clarify any doubt that might arise from this system.

I would also like to state that no player will leave this tourney with just one loss in a matchup - this is the definition of Double Elimination Format (unless, ofc, if he drops out).

Even in the finals, as i think you can see by the published brackets, if we get to a situation where the player coming from the winner's brackets loses, in the first final, to the player coming from the loser's part, we will then have a "finalish" final... because to that player, that loss would be his first in the tourney, so he's not eliminated yet!!
Just tought i should state this since the beggining, to leave no doubts to anyone about it.

I'm probbly forgeting some important things, so please feel free ask and i'll try to complete this as we move on.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This Tourney will oficially start, if nothing is stated otherwise, this Monday, 13 Aug, at 23.30 gmt+0.

I now have all the decks of all the 64 signed up players. Thank you all.

    Play fair!!

I wish all of you the best of luck and a lot of fun in this Tourney!!
