you forgot another tip. you can look at the graveyard of your opponent too. there you can most probably foresee how many copies of the cards he has that he can still use/cast in the game.

the problem with putting too much weight into opponents graveyard is that you don't know what he's been forced to sac at early game. It is completely possible that your opponent got sort of shafted right at the start and was forced to sac a tidal wave, or something.
i was just saying that it can "most probably foresee" as it is still a big help in counting the cards of your opponent. and yes you are right. but i find looking at the graveyard really important. yeah like when you have an opening hand of 3-4 tidal waves =P that's so annoying.
