    Unity 3D and Linux

Hello, since the latest version of Unity 3D can now "export" your game for Linux distros too, alongside Windows and Mac, should we expect seeing a Linux native Shadow Era client anytime soon? Please?

Yeah, I remember reading a while back the new version of Unity includes Linux support or something. To be frank, there's a bunch of priorities that come before it so unfortunately a Linux port probably won't be coming in the near(as in a few months) future.

    Mhm

Yeah, the latest Unity 3D version seems to make the actual porting to Linux easy, but i guess apart from that there is tweaking to be done to the actual Linux client before it is suited for all (or most) of the hundreds of distros available out there. Thanks for the swift reply and hope you guys have an easy road implementing all the features you have planned for the next months, and hopefully we'll see a Linux port on your to do list as soon as possible. Cheers!

    Sort of.

It can be played on browser, but only via WINE. Basically install firefox for windows and run it via WINE, then install unity web player and you can play Shadow Era in Linux. You can also try and install the windows client under WINE, but that one is very fussy. The WINE + Windows Firefox + Unity web player seems to work peachy in Linux.

Still, i was wondering strictly about a native client since Unity 3D has that option now.

Also, for some reason the Unity guys still refuse to port Unity web player for Linux. Even though their Unity 3D is now fully Linux friendly. Wierd :P

I assume, you can run SE client with Wine too. So shouldn't be a huge problem.

    Nope

The client crashes mid game under WINE . So it works but via Windows Firefox with Unity web player under WINE.
