Question What is the limit for the amount of cards in a deck?

I'm only asking because I just faced a Nishaven with 101(!) cards in his/her deck (including hero). Needless to say, I thrashed him/her real bad (he retreated my Priest of the Light twice; now why would anyone do that?).

    101 cards... That's just insane.

The limit is how much you can take losing.

I built a couple of Rolling Pins for fun against the AI back when 1.5 first came out. Zhanna and Zaladar. They had over 200 cards, but I don't remember the exact counts right now.

Competitive decks really have a limit of around 50, and even that is generally too big. The best decks are as close to the minimum as possible.
Congratulations to Preybird for designing my Avatar!

Of course 50 is too big. You won't be drawing what you need even at 45 cards. My decks are usually 40, 41 or 42 cards tops. But some players don't understand the concept of synergy and decide to stuff their decks with just about any card that seems "good". What they should be doing is only including those cards that are "optimal" for their decks, so as not to fatten it up.

Depending on the meta and what deck you are using, 50 is a reasonable number. Most stall decks run at a larger deck size to force their opponents to run out of cards first.

    Right.
I never saw a stall deck with less than 50 cards, and one of their fav card is Bad Santa.

Infinite as long as you can shuffle it without help... Which means infinite.

Currently, using just the base set, each style of deck has 20 allies, 10 class cards, 10 faction cards, and 10 neutral cards, as well as a variable number of armors and weapons, depending upon the class. Armor wise, Warriors have 8, Hunters have 7, Mages have 5, Priests have 5, Rogues have 5, Wulven have 4, and Elementals have 5. Weapon wise, Warriors have 6, Hunters have 5, Mages have 4, Priests have 6, Rogues have 4, Wulven have 4, and Elementals have 4. So, the largest possible deck currently would have 4x of all 20 allies, all 10 Warrior cards, all 10 class cards, all 10 faction cards, all 8 Warrior armors, and all 6 Warrior weapons, for 4x64 or 256 cards (not including hero). If you go physical and include the promo card, then 260 cards.

Once the next expansion hits, the maximum legal size will increase by more than 100, with 15 new allies per faction and 10 new cards per class, as well as 50 cards spread out among neutral, weapons, and armors.

And of course, in physical, you can always say screw faction and class restrictions and make a 720 + hero card deck (1,320 + hero after the expansion).
