Zone of the Enders 2 - I HATE any sort of mecha games, but this is (one of) the most amazing games I've played...for ps2. Unfortunately, I don't think I have a favorite (maybe Blazblue), but I love these:

    Deadspace 1 & 2
    Borderlands
    Team fortress 2 (pc)
    Bioshock
    Blazblue continuum shift: extend

Actually, what mods are available? I remember there were some patches to make the beginning easier, give you a better starting ship etc.
Wow I remember that game, I loved it. I also played a number of mods, but I can't remember any of the details...

It's tough, but I have to go with One Must Fall 2097.

Yes, no one in my generation should know what I'm talking about. I was two when it came out. It's what happens when you have a brother nine years your senior.

If you don't have a clue what I'm talking about, or even if you do, One Must Fall 2097 has been freeware since 1999. It must be played, if for no reason other than the ballin' title music.

If I go by childhood memories. Mario 3 and FF1 are the standouts. I played so much, my mom still knows the FF music.

Cool thread! And tough to nail down favs/nostalgia picks... it really depends on the system/era for me:

    Nostalgia picks:
    Defender, Atari 400
Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy, NES (which I still have, from like 1986)
Doom 2, PC - Iconic shooter and still fun to play

    Fav games:
Shadow of the Colossus, PS2 -- nothing else I've ever played really touches this
Gran Turismo 4, PS2 -- love pimping out $hitty cars
    Guitar Hero 80's, PS2 -- awesome drinking/party game

Oh, and of course I can't forget Shadow Era -- best phone app ever, and great PC game
    1.25, 1.26, 1.27: 40 card decks, Big Bad Baduruu
1.28/1.29 - best forgotten except for Elementalis Prime Grindage

    1.5 - it's all good Naughty Gwenches

    I CAN'T DECIDE!

I have a tie between Stacraft: Broodwar and Final Fantasy X

And Thirth and Forth place is tied between Decent and Power Pete, haha, so old, yet so fun
