Because SE is to tempo based, I don't think the resource ladder concept is as useful in this game. There's basically a major jump in utility at 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 10 for most decks. Also, it will vary from deck to deck a decent amount as well.
I prefer to think of it as "critical mass" instead of the traditional resource ladder concept, as I agree with NinjaDucky that SE is more tempo relevant. The fact that "critical mass" for most decks falls into the range of the resource ladder is certainly a nod for its usefulness, but most SE decks aim for a certain resource total and then go boom, rather than scaling evenly across the whole ladder. Some do, but not always successfully due to sac choices and other choices.
