Android Market --> Google Play

This actually isn't a Shadow Era issue but it is an Android thing going on. Sometime in the next few months for Android users your marketplace will disappear and Google Play shows up a few hours later. This is being done by Google and not by your Wireless Service Provider. When this happens you should see a disclaimer saying that there has been a change of policies. From my understanding, Google is doing this to stopping fradulent apps and to protect it's clients and whatnot. If you see your marketplace disappear, it's totally normal. Just give it an hour or so and you should see google play.

Yep, I have to go to all these training seminars on how Google Play works and all this other fun stuff...in general, you will still have the "legal" apps that you purchased, and of course you can still do everything normally. But google is basically saying "Yea, you know those apps that kids that want to get revenge on companies on or download something illegal. Yea, we are just going to delete the old market, put back the legal apps, and then ban people with illegal apps on their phone from ever using the marketplace again. And I do recieve calls on that. The top one is BitTorrent.

Let me know if you need any more info on this. I've been here for 2 weeks getting lectured by google. What fun

Yeah I have too. But I think it's worldwide, not just in Oz.

I just know that it is supposed to be rolled out incredibly slowly. Some may, some may not have it. I just know that from what the rep said they started rolling it during the month as a trial of sorts.

I still don't get the point. Do they invade your phone to see if you have any nonpurchased apps, then block you from the market if you do?

What happens if you transfer from one phone to another and don't re-download through the market? You get called a pirate and didn't do anything wrong?
