I'm guessing this is going to be a pain for physical players... especially when combined with retreat...

So there are cases, like dimension ripper, when your opponent takes one of your cards. If that player has the same card in his hand, SE keeps track of the original owner when retreat is used. You can't really do this in real life. If you mark the card, then obviously the person will know when to use retreat to get the card back into their hand.

Just food for thought.

I can just imagine kids fighting over such matters in the school playground once SE really hits the market, and then becomes another craze

Card sleeves!

You can get ones with different colour backs or little holograms on!

But if you don't use the same sleeves... it becomes pretty easy to know which card is the stolen card while the game is on.

I don't in all honesty think the physical game will be a patch on the glorious digital version, working out all the different calculations for you and being the original form we learnt the game on.

I can see the appeal for games among friends and the need to collect but certainly can't see it taking over as the optimum choice and it's not supposed to be either I would imagine.

Any decent comic store would probably have card protectors in stock. I just wish the UK had decent comic stores. It's just Forbidden Planet, and that's in London. Not to mention being way too corporate to be really good.

The issue isn't keeping track of the cards... it's the fact that you can't play retreat to get the stolen card back into your hand.

Say your opponent takes Jasmine. He also has Jasmine in his hand. He then casts Jasmine and you cast retreat. Whose hand does that Jasmine return to?

Not quite on topic... but how would you know in the digital game. You'd probably want to cast your own...

I think if you pay attention, you can see where the card goes in the player's hand, and you just have to keep an eye on it... but the point is I think most ppl do not pay attention so it's a gamble!
