    Some clarification needed. [confirmed]

If i'm attacked by an opposing ally and I have a JD and Violent Thunderstorm both in play and Vt kills the attacking ally after they attack me why then does my JD attack a dead ally. Is this a bug or is it meant to be?

I think it's meant to be. In every 'event' there is a step by step resolution of each effect. Some effects take place at the same time while others have a clear distinction which happens first.

For example, if I whack a kris with a dagger of unmaking, the kris dies because the damage is resolved first before the dagger effect is resolved. Since kris is already dealt the damages, death occurs/kris goes to the grave, hence the dagger no longer has the target and hence does not 'occur'.

As for VT armor and JD, the effect takes place at exactly the same time so both takes place simultaneously.

During play they do not seem to occur at same time. The -1 from VT happens first then the attack from me happens.

seems like it must be a bug in that case, vt effect should kill ally, dead ally means no attack using jd, is this only happening with jd or with any weapon u have in hand?

With the way combat is set up in SE (attacks first, defense second) I would think that the attacking creature should be put in the graveyard before the defense happens.

yes, but the same thing happens with MC.

IMO, the ally should die before the hero retaliates.

    just a thought.

I agree that there needs to be some clear ground rules on which effect resolves first. for consistency.

I agree I have now done this with VoW and WoS and JD they all attack the dead ally.

This bug has been filed. The change will bring the card inline with established rules, such as Dagger of Unmaking, whereby, death effects should take precedence and remove an ally from combat prior to other effects.
