Makes perfect sense. You shouldn't be able to know what they'll block with and make your play. Would be an unfair advantage.

You must have killed it after blockers were declared. Once it's declared it's blocked. So if you want anything to go through 100% you'll have to stop the timer immediately after you declare attackers...

Trample is the leftover damage after blocking. 3/3 trample attacks, 1/1 blocks, said 1/1 dies and defending player takes 2 (3-1) damage.

Yup it is dumb. Should be on by default. But for noobs I guess most players play everything during their first main phase.
