Pathfinder's Machete activates Rankett: Proving Grounds as it is counted as an ally instead of a weapon.

A Turn 2 Sword Gobbler into Turn 3 Pathfinder's Machete+ Rankett: Proving Grounds will give you a 4/4 ally and 2/4 weapon by Turn 3 + 1 draw. This is good enough to secure the game.

Did you know that Berserker's Edge and Reserve Weapon also allow you to use Rankett's ability? Not for long, because it's fixed in 3.62, but since you're being dishonest why not give it a shot while you can ... ;)
