BP Ross Presents: Dungeon Master Challenge - The Cursed Arena of Ahrefholt

Legends told of a once great arena deep in the lands of Ahrefholt. It is said that there the elders used to settle political disputes with the ultimate trial; The Trial of Combat. Although it has been centuries since anyone, human or otherwise, has set foot near the ancient lands, many stories and texts tell of riches and power in near unlimited quantities for those that can pass the trial. Tempted by the rewards described in these texts, many have ventured into the harsh lands of Ahrefholt, though none have returned. You try not to let these thoughts unnerve you as you draw closer to the summit of the mountain you have been climbing for three days. In the distance, you see the ruins loom in front of you, a purple light glowing through the fog. A hooded figure emerges towards you, a chilling grin peering out through the darkness of their cloak. A skeletal hand with skin as gray as ash reaches for you, as you place your hand firmly against the hilt of your blade ready to attack.

Welcome to the first in a series of events i am hoping to host throughout the year. The Dungeon Master Challenge aims to blend Shadow Era with some RPG style mechanics, Creating a fun and challenging event for all those that dare to enter.

Choose Your Class

You must choose from 3 pre determined classes with tailor made decks to begin your journey. This first event wiil be a double elimination, so each class will have 2 forms; Human and Shadow.

Upon Death, you hero is cast to the realm of shadows where they will take on a darker form of their human selves.

Each Deck will start as singleton decks comprised of the following:

• 1 Hero
• 15 Party Members (Allies)
• 15 Abilities
• 10 Items

Your deck must always contain those numbers, and must always contain singleton cards, with the exception of abilities (more on this below)

Upgrade Your Party

At the end of each round you will be allocated experience points (XP) and gold (GP) depending on which round you have just completed.

you will be given the opportunity to spend XP and GP at the end of each round, which will work in the following manner;

Shop items and price in GP will be announced at the end of each round in the telegram chat which will be created for this tournament, players will then submit a buy request to me via Direct Message. You may only 'carry' 10 items in your deck at any one time and each one must be unique

Ability upgrades will cost XP, and an upgrade constitutes to you adding 1 copy of an existing ability card into your deck, all upgrades will cost the following amounts (all abilities start at level 1 and must progress 1 level at a time);

• Level 2 - 10XP
• Level 3 - 30XP
• Level 4 - 50XP

when you have upgraded an ability you must have the relevant number of copies in your deck.
you will also be given the opportunity to 'learn' a new ability in exchange for XP after each round, abilities you can learn will be class specific and added to a pool of learnable abilities as the tournament progresses, so you can skip learning until a later point if you wish.
when upgrading an ability you must reduce the level of one other ability by 1, if this means an ability gets removed from your deck, it will be allocated to your learnable ability pool in addition to the new abilities at the end of each round.

In addition, at the end of some rounds, new party members will be made available for you, you are free to add them to your party as you wish, but you may not have more than one of each ally and no more than 15 allies in your party.

All of this will be tracked in a public spreadsheet via googlesheets which will be posted and pinned in the telegram room

Tournament Format

Best of 3 Double Elimination Format

when you lose a match, you must switch to the shadow form of your chosen class

you are locked to your chosen class, however changes to your deck will be permitted so long as it is within the parameters described in the above section

Disconnect = game loss for disconnecting player unless otherwise agreed by both players

Draws/sync errors = replay with the same FTA as the drawn/sync error game

Random Start for game 1 and 3, alternate start for game 2
