Shadow Era doesn't have them, and I like it that way. It's incredibly annoying in electronic TCG's to have to press the "I do not have a response" button after every single play my opponent makes. (Because there's no other way to provide the opportunity for the user to counter the action he wants to counter.) But there are a couple of effects this will have on the types of decks that become viable that we should take into account as we look at cards Kyle is revealing.

Narziss had a good point earlier today about in the thread about Portal. I'm going to shamelessly hijack his thought and run with it. But for the record, the direction I'm going with it would be best filed under the "there's no idea too stupid to be blogged about" category.

How Heroes Could Be Heroic (But Not Overpowered)

Who's your favorite hero? Not in Shadow Era, but in, well, anything. Think of the epic stories or books or whatever have you that prominently features a heroic struggle and think about how the hero in the story fights. Does (s)he start off at maximum power, blowing holes in row after row of enemy? Ehh, probably not. And if he does, you're a Superman fan and you should stop reading. You won't like where this is going.
