Mage OP-ness, bias and unwillingness to make changes

Rate this Entry
Is it just me or are people against any kind of change? I don't really mind if they are against my suggestions but their arguments against them are weak at best. Why are so many people defending the status quo? Is reinventing the wheel that much fun? I always though that if someone creates something that is similar to something else already in existence once takes the good parts, removes the bad, and adds some unique ideas and concepts and becomes superior.

As it stands Mages will only get stronger and it doesn't matter what new cards are added to the other classes, they will always remain sub-par to them. If Eladwen is being nerfed then Fireball should and needs to go to 4 resources. The only damage dealing spell that is, so far, fairly designed is Smite. Special Delivery is just to puke for. I don't care about the class race argument, having some of the most abuse-able cards currently in the game is unfair. Same with Lightning Strike. The only fair cards that are for mages ATM IMO are Portal (with the removal of First Strike), Research, and Arcane Burst (somewhat).

Where do you guys stand on this?

Lost pretty much all credibility right there, bro.

Can you explain that? And I will clarify by what I meant with what I said. As time goes on there will be more burn cards, it's inevitable. Unless you are a priest with healing capabilities, the rest of the classes will be at a disadvantage with direct damage spells and that is why IMO the rest of the classes will be sub-par, with exceptions of course as always.

Not that they would, but they could print a card that says "you win the game" that only costs 1 resource. Whichever class got that card would be way better than Mages.

ROFL I was actually thinking the same thing. Just make a 1 resource card mages only that says "You win the game". btw what do you play as?

Cmon, stop whining, get yourself a wolven deck and hunt some mages.
Then there will be weapons next release and you'll get your revenge in lots of other classes as well

you have to learn how to outpace damage then. healing is one thing, but look at armor of ages. slap that thing onto a warrior and if you're dealing with a burn deck it buys you a good 3 turns.

also, burn cards are 1 shot deals, they deal damage and that's it while allies are on the board till you get rid of them, so they can deal repeated damage. i just beat an eladwen deck because i was able to get 4 fire snakes out by 5th turn. that means by 6th turn i had repeated fireball damage. also since spells are one go you need to restock your hand to deal consistent damage.

you also have counter measures for this with hunter cards that doesn't allow your hero to be targeted, wulven cards that lets your hero be immune to damage, ability cards that prevents damage to allies.

also, there might be a possibility that burn cards will get increasing costs over time if the new ones do come out. like 5 cost for 6 damage. mtg has dealt with burn decks before and it got passed it. and we have nothing like lightning bolt which is 1 cost for 3 damage.

That is what I am thankful for at least. Thank the card designers that they didn't decide to copy Lightning bolt. I know you are right. With the upcoming cards it should get better. Fine, let them have their mage bias.

i really do think that it only seems like a mage bias since all the cards weren't out yet. the other classes are gonna be a blast to play with the new update.

Well it's post update, and Mages are still wrecking it out there with so much direct damage. As a priest, even with all my heals, there's no way to mitigate it. With Holy shield, that's one spent card vs the mage who has the choice to not play the card but will eventually play the fireball. If Holy shield operated like a trap card, then it'd be a different matter.

Not sure what deck you're playing, but my heart bursts with joy when I see a mage staring across the board from Gwen and her bow. The Elemental decks are what make me run behind a tree and hide....or warriors with a good draw and me sitting with a slow one......where's the mulligan button?????
