Wulven are dumb

Rating: 5 votes, 3.20 average.
Got a lot of time on your hands? It's hard to lose if you're playing this deck correctly, but it might take you a while to win.

Core of the deck: (25)
Darkclaw
4x Lone Wolf
4x What Big Teeth
4x Captured Prey
4x Speedstrike
4x Rabid Bite
4x Regeneration

Stuff you can tweak: (5)
1x Plasma Behemoth
3x Fire Snake
1x Rain Delay

Notably absent:
Bazaar, Bad Santa. You don't need them. Moreover, they help your opponent. Every turn, you gain 2 life (which is really closer to 5 or 6 life) and take 2 of theirs. You play out the most important cards in your deck by turn 4, and spend a ton of turns just attacking and not playing any cards. Why would you want to help your opponent assemble a defense any faster?

Resources:
Speedstrike #2-4, What Big Teeth #2-4, Lone Wolf #2-4, Fire Snakes after turn 2, maybe a Regeneration/Captured Prey/Rabid Bite early game. If you happen to be up against a class who can destroy weapons (Priest, Warrior) save your extra Teeth. If you're up against Ter Adun, also save your extra Lone Wolfs (because his innate ability can destroy it, for some reason).

The gameplan:
Equip teeth, bite opponent's hero -> win.

...

Really, it's that easy. Play out What Big Teeth, Speedstrike, and Lone Wolf, in that order, and just maul their hero. Most allies can't hurt you any faster than you heal up, and Rabid Bite takes care of crowds. The biggest headache for you is Aeon Stormcaller, and he's the guy you're saving those Captured Prey for.

Those last five cards can be pretty much whatever you want. The Fire Snakes are to squeeze in a little damage in the first few turns, and Plasma Behemoth + Rain Delay gives me a little extra reach in the endgame. YMMV.

Oh, and if you get a Darkclaw mirror, don't even bother. Just find another match.

good decks ofcourse, but tell me, how will you deal with 4 aeon, as you have to kill all of them first?
How you outdamage Zaladar and outlive them when he have more cards than you (eternal renewal)?
  2. Fry's Avatar
between Captured Prey and Rabid Bite, it's possible to cut through 4 aeon. Zaladar can be tough, but if you don't actually spend your cards you can get there.

ooo....i would love to play against this. i think i pretty much have. i run a majiya burn deck so i run through it in less than 15 turns i think.

For your 5 random cards, wouldnt it be a good idea to maybe go to 6 cards and use 3x Pack Wolf and 3x Full Moon. It could give you the option to switch strategy in the game at some point.

@ Autumnleaf, I would be interested to see how you could get through this before his hero has killed yours? With the ability to keep healing using regen and lone wolf.

Pack Wolf is really, really weak, if you wanted to be able to switch to allies I think you can do better. Full Moon is a fine card for this deck, and I could see switching to some of those. Running out of cards isn't a problem for this deck, so I don't think you want to increase the number of cards, because it's very, very important to get What Big Teeth and Speedstrike as soon as possible.

@totalyimba. i just killed another darkclaw, 13 turns. it's a burn deck so damage isn't halved. i run 4 infernal gargoyles and 3 plasma behemoths. with 4 fireballs, 4 lightning strikes, 2 supernovas. usually at turn 10 i'm swinging out 10-14 damage to darkclaw per turn. the rabid bites are a hit or miss because of how many creatures i have out, he can't kill the gargoyles period without using my own allies unless he uses Now You're Mine. so usually i'm taking out his two life gain per turn easily.

he has then 16 health gain from cards with 28 max life and some sometimes i can't deal damage because of Full Moon, so lets say i have to be able to deal a total 52 damage. 4 fireballs = 16, 4 lightning strikes = 12, 2 supernovas = 10; total damage (16+12+10) = 38 without extra damage from behemoths.

so in all that time if he has played everything he possibly could (which some cards i mentioned aren't in this blog's version) i would have to deal 14 from any other allies i have over the course of the game which equals to 4 plasmas (16 damage).

I just put this deck together, let's see how it performs

Crap. Faced a Skullcrusher deck with tons of item destruction. Not a good matchup haha
  10. izzynobre's Avatar
...yeah, I'm sorry to say this deck doesn't perform very well (I'm ranking 340+). Played three matches, two of which should have been good matchups. It's way too slow and you WILL deck yourself.
  11. Fry's Avatar
This deck was for the previous version (1.23). The metagame has shifted, making this deck a poor choice.

Also, the trick to not decking yourself with this deck was to STOP PLAYING CARDS. Seriously. You don't need more than 4 resources, and most of your cards all do the same thing, so once you have a good hand, just sit on it.
  12. izzynobre's Avatar
What? I'm sorry dude but that makes no sense.

How would not playing cards prevent you from decking out...? You still draw one card per turn (sometimes more if the opponent casts Bad Santa/Bazaar), and since the deck is so slow (you deal 2 damage per turn, IF you have the right items in play AND they don't have a Stormcaller), you're bound to get milled.

Not to mention that's horrible advice anyway, even outside the decking out context. If the way to play a deck is NOT to play cards in your hand, something is very wrong.

no, fry is absolutely right in how to play the deck. it was meant for 1.23 and is utterly worthless now. sitting on a full hand prevents you from drawing cards so yes, it does prevent decking.

You are right. I forgot about that detail.

I'm playing wulven, and that deck was my next trial...
basically, I got my ass wiped by an "ally-less" mage, who despite his being the most utterly boring match/style/deck I have met so far (even compared with fireball/damage magic battlemage)
I thought I could try and make a bite'n'bite deck. A couple new weapons for wulvens might be good first though, cause the "new" ones kinda suck.

Also I totally agree about how card-providing cards are usually helping me out... when my opponent casts them into play... lol
